The Creative Native is a lively, high quality, half-hour television program dedicated to celebrating the diverse artistic excellence of the Aboriginal world. Host and Producer, Tamara Bell, introduces unique Aboriginal artists and craftspeople to the viewer, providing a greater understanding of Indigenous art and culture. The Creative Native’s commitment to the revival and documentation of endangered Aboriginal traditions, culture, art forms, language, ceremonies and history, is an essential component of the program. Dedication to our primary target market audience, Aboriginal youth, has inspired the Creative Native to showcase young emerging talent and demonstrate projects targeted to young people. The Creative Native’s primary objective is to interpret Aboriginal traditions within the context of our environment. The storyline of each episode on Aboriginal cultural traditions is continually engaging and always offers deep, historical, and educational information central to all Canadians. The Creative Native’s grassroots approach to the television program allows us to reveal traditions held sacred to individual Aboriginal communities and fosters cultural knowledge and pride in our viewers. The greatest advantage of the Creative Native is that it provides Aboriginal people the opportunity to analyze and interpret artistic traditions from our own distinct perspectives. Our corporation is based in Vancouver, B.C., specifically on the Burrard Reserve. The Creative Native has a mission statement to produce broadcast quality, Aboriginal themed television programs that target our primary market, Aboriginal youth. In addition, the Creative Native is committed to engaging in positive programming that embodies the spirit of our ancestors.
